Jay King, who runs Gleanings Gallery and Arkansas Glassworks at 900 Rodney Parham Road, was disturbed to read on the Arkansas Blog and elsewhere that Natural State Wellness Dispensary would be located at their address. King said he fears he’ll get an eviction notice today from the landlords, who he identified as Al Treadway and John Magee. (Correction from Jay King.)
Natural State Wellness won approval from the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission at its meeting yesterday to move from the location it provided on its successful application — 11201 Stagecoach Road — to 900 Rodney Parham Road, which it said would be more accessible and which would take less time to turn the space into a pharmacy.
Magee, however, who is a builder, said he wasn’t sure the dispensary would materialize: “I don’t give thing a 50-50 chance of working out still. Maybe closer to 50 percent now.” He said Natural State, which has not yet purchased 900 Rodney Parham, was the second dispensary to talk to him about leasing. Magee was also doubtful Natural State could be up and running by July, as its representative told the commission yesterday. He is eager to sell, however.
King has a contract to produce 11 stained glass windows by the first week in June, and is, not surprisingly, dismayed by the move, but Magee said he would try to find a place for him to relocate if the property sells.
Gleanings and Glassworks share the space with Gallery 360.
