The Arkansas Arts Center opens its 61st annual juried show of work by regional artists, the Delta Exhibition, on Friday, May 3. Artists will have to wait until 2022 for another chance to exhibit in this most popular exhibition: The Arts Center closes at the end of the year for a three-year, $65 million transformation. (Until then, it will offer classes at rented space on Cantrell, in a building that has served as a number of grocery stores over the years, most recently at Walmart Neighborhood Store.)

Artist Kevin Cole was guest juror for the show, selecting 50 works by 33 Arkansans and 15 others from around the Delta region. Arkansas artists include John Alhen, Joshua Asante, Carrie Ballinger Porter, Zachary Blair, Kim Brecklein, Debra Callahan, Olevia Caston, Karen DeJarnette, Virmarie DePoyster, Scinthya Edwards, DebiLynn Fendley, Brian Frazier, Janet Goodyear, John Green, Alice Guffey Miller, Heather Christine Guenard, Carol Hart, Jason McCann, Keith Melton, Danielle Napolitano, Mark Payne, Rashawn Penister, Yelena Petroukhina, Jason Rankin, Ray Scott, Sandra Sell, Laura Terry, Holly Tilley, Mabry Turner, Michael Warrick, Lauren Welshans, Nancy Wilson and Emily Wood.
The winners of the Grand Award ($2,500), two Delta Awards ($750) and the Contemporaries Award ($250) will be announced at a members preview reception at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 2, in the Children’s Theatre. The show runs through June 30.
