Stone Throw’s Brewing says it will open its Stifft Station taproom, at 3015 W. Markham St., on Tuesday, May 7. This new outpost of Stone’s Throw (its home base and brewing operation, at 402 E. Ninth St., is now called Stone’s Throw MacPark Brewpub and Biergarten) is on the same block as The Oyster Bar and Stift Station Gifts and across from The Meteor bike/coffee shop, creating a busy little business district where the trolley used to stop in days of yore.
The new taproom seats 78 and features 20 taps; Stone’s Throw brews include Amadeus Vienna Lager, Common Sense California Common, Riverdale Pale Ale, Shamus Stout and Pear Guavara Cider brews along with seasonal offerings. A Stift Station Special brew has been created for the new taproom; get it only at the Stifft Station watering hole.
Hours are 4-10 p.m. Tue.-Fri., noon-10 p.m. Sat. and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sun. The bar will have snacks, but no menu. Geeks Who Drink will host live pub quizzes at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays starting May 16. Dogs are welcome; kids, too.
That mural on the Stone’s Throw exterior wall: It was painted by Matt McLeod. Yes, it says Stifft’s Station, not Stifft Station. OK by us.
