Have you ever exclaimed “to think that I saw it on Mulberry Street!” after a visit to the Historic Arkansas Museum? Likely not, but you could have, if you’d known that Third Street once had the more colorful and fruity name Mulberry. That’s the sort of thing — just a minor sort — that you can discover in “Acansa to Arkansas,” an exhibition of maps from the time just before Benard de la Harpe’s arrival in Acansa in 1722 to statehood in 1836. The collections of the Arkansas State Archives and the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies contributed to the show, which opens with a reception from 5-8 p.m. May 10. John Willis will provide the music at the reception; Water Buffalo Brewing will be the featured craft brewery. The show will run through July 7, and will have a second run Sept. 13-Jan. 5.
