Work by Ashley Murphy, at M2 Gallery

M2 Gallery’s second exhibition to highlight women artists, including an artist whose work is part of the collection of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, will open Friday, Sept. 6 with a SOMA After Dark reception 5-9 p.m.

The juried show received 150 submissions; works by 27 artists will be included in the show, among them two from California: Adonna Khare of Burbank, whose 8-by-36-foot triptych “Elephants” is in the collection of Crystal Bridges, and Lacey Bryant of the Bay Area, a narrative painter.


An after-party will be held at South on Main, where female duo A Rowdy Faith will play starting at 9 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door or through Central Arkansas Tickets.

Also in the show: Melverue Abraham, Jeaneen Barnhart, Alecia Walls Barton, Cathy Burns,  V.L. Cox, Carly Dahl, Scinthya Edwards, Charis Fleshner, Emily Galusha, Caroline Gustafson, Lisa Krannichfeld, Cheryl Kellar, Greta Kresse, Julie Latayan, Ann Laser, Samantha Jane Mullen, Catherine Nugent, Hannah Lawrence, Hannah McBroom, Michele Mikesell, Sandra Sell, Ashley Swain, Mabry Turner and Elizabeth Weber. Autumn Blaylock, a senior in high school, was also chosen to be in the show.
