Mary Beth Ringgold has sold the Copper Grill restaurant downtown to Dan Kovach and his business partner, Lelan Stice. Kovach is the former manager of Cajun’s Wharf, which closed June 1. Ringgold, who also owned Cajun’s Wharf, will continue to operate Capers Restaurant and the Market at Capers on Cantrell Road in West Little Rock.
The sale was final today. Kovach said in a press release that he does not plan to make “significant” changes, but will have a new menu at the end of November. He said he’ll serve nightly seafood specials and Cajun’s dishes — such as the Brown Casserole, Oysters Bienville and Crab au Gratin — and serve Play-De-Dos.

Ringgold opened the Copper Grill, located on the ground floor of the 300 Third Tower condo building at Third and Cumberland streets, in 2007. She was interviewed by Kelley Bass on the Arkansas Times’ Heaping Spoonful podcast Sept. 26 about her career in the restaurant business, which began with a job at Bruce Anderson’s Cajun’s Wharf while she was a student at the University of Tennessee.
