Artspace loft and gallery space in Memphis.

Artspace, a national nonprofit developer of housing and studio space for artists and arts organizations, will present the results of a survey on housing and work space needs it took this summer at an event from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, 501 W. Ninth St. There will be entertainment, food and beverages starting at 5 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6 p.m.

In a news release, Artspace said there were 825 respondents to the Arts Market Study, which showed a high demand for affordable space. The developer will provide its recommendations based on the study and will lead a discussion on specific local needs and location preferences for a multi-use facility.

The Windgate Charitable Foundation provided the support for the Artspace market study. Foundation Executive Director Pat Forgy said the project would “be a great asset as a way to both support our creative community and further encourage social and economic growth.”

Artspace, headquartered in Minneapolis, has developed more than 50 projects since its founding 30 years ago, including one in Memphis (see image above).
