Seven arts makers and leaders are among the recipients of the 2022 Governor’s Arts Awards which, a press release states, “has recognized individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations for their contributions to the arts in Arkansas since 1991. Recipients are nominated by the public, then selected by an independent panel of arts professionals.”
Perrion Y. Hurd, whose banners you’ve likely seen on the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center downtown and whose work is currently up at Hearne Fine Art, is the recipient of the Individual Artist Award this year. Other honorees this year:
Arts Community Development Award: Ed Clifford of Springdale
Arts in Education Award: Dr. Timothy Crist of Jonesboro
Corporate Sponsorship of the Arts: Cranford Co. of Little Rock
Individual Artist Award: Perrion Y. Hurd of Little Rock
Judges Recognition Award: The Scottish Heritage Program at Lyon College in Batesville
Patron Award: Sharon Heflin of Little Rock
Lifetime Achievement Award: Linda Williams Palmer of Hot Springs
“We are excited to celebrate the contributions made by this year’s recipients,” Arkansas Arts Council director Patrick Ralston said, “and organizations like the ones being honored help inspire and support the arts community across Arkansas.” A ceremony honoring the year’s recipients will be held at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion at noon p.m. Wednesday, March 16 and will be streamed on Facebook Live at the Arkansas Arts Council page.
