‘RADIUM GIRLS’
FRIDAY 9/16-SUNDAY 10/2. The Weekend Theater. 7:30 p.m. Fri.-Sat.; 2:30 p.m. Sun. $18-$20.

Tricia H. Spione directs D.W. Gregory’s rapidfire two-act play “Radium Girls,” penned in 2000 through the lens of young women working in factories in the early 1900s, where they were hired to paint the faces of watches and dials with radium, often dipping the brushes in their mouths to moisten them — and, for many of them, unknowingly accelerating their death by radium poisoning. With its small cast and focus on the perils of American industry, the comic drama is tailor-made for this tenacious community playhouse.
