On Thursday, Jan. 19, the Grammy award winning Ying Quartet, initially formed by four Eastman-enrolled siblings, is coming to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, courtesy of the Chamber Music Society of Little Rock. The quartet has been in existence for nearly 35 years, and yet three out of four of its original members (Janet Ying, David Ying and Phillip Ying) are still loyally performing with the group. Image, a literary journal, claims that the foursome plays in such a state of “togetherness” that it might as well be “a single performer,” which one can’t help but interpret as partially a result of their familial bond.
Composers Barber, Higdon, Childs and Dvořák are on the program. Tickets are $25 (or free for students of all ages!) and can be purchased online or at the door. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
