If you’ve walked around downtown Little Rock with the spirit of aimlessness guiding you, you might recognize some of the locales captured in rapper Como Sasaki‘s new music video for “Abort,” directed by Damien Farr. “Abort” is from “Meraki,” his 2022 sophomore album.

Filmed entirely at night, Adrick Huntley — Como Sasaki’s given name — wanders from the alley behind The Rep (did you catch the Mr. Rogers mural?!) to the downtown bus station to other abandoned storefronts, illuminated by a bright white light that creates a shadow so prominent it almost appears as if he’s being followed around by a dark doppelgänger. Over trembling synth strings and a quiet beat, Huntley offers confident yet casual verses that subdivide time in unexpected ways.

Como Sasaki’s song “Dak Interlude,” also on “Meraki,” was one of our favorite tracks of 2022.
