From Fort Smith comes the news that Bruce Coleman, a man who is a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, traditional marriage and is pro-life, to boot. is seeking the District 81 seat in the Arkansas House of Representatives.

If elected, he will represent folks from Alma, Chester, Mountainburg, West Work and Winslow.

Like all conservatives, he will work to cut all of that infernal red tape which bedevils small businesses, so that more good-paying jobs may be created. He also vows to fight for the conservative values which he believes that the folks of Crawford and Washington Counties hold so dear.

Which brings one, inevitably, to his political trifecta of guns, marriage and the unborn.

I’m not sure if Comrade Coleman has looked at a newspaper in recent days (not an unreasonable thing to wonder, since so many who spend their time on Facebook seem to view newsprint as the lifeblood of satan), but gay marriage is now the law of the land.

He can “support” traditional marriage to his heart’s delight, but he can’t force it on anybody; he can, of course, make an angry campaign speech about gay marriage. But it’s here to stay, baby.

Ditto with a woman’s right to an abortion. He doesn’t have to have an abortion himself, if he doesn’t want to, but as the Men With Bad Haircuts in various state legislatures have discovered, while you can make it more difficult for a woman to get an abortion if she wants one, you can’t make it impossible.

As far as guns, though, he is on pretty safe ground.

I look forward to the inevitable campaign commercial, where he poses with a hunting rifle.

Well, I guess writing this one means I won’t be able to get him on my show, but that’s life . . .
