LRPD: Suspect dies after being taken into custody

A spokesman for the Little Rock Police Department said a suspect died last night after experiencing medical distress shortly after being taken into custody by officers for a break-in near Highway 5 on the Pulaski/Saline County line. The suspect, a Latino male, remains unidentified at this writing.

Melee at Hall High this morning, seven students charged

A report just issued by the Little Rock Police Department describes a full-on brawl in the Hall High cafeteria this morning, with the school's principal allegedly struck by a student and an LRPD officer deploying pepper spray while attempting to control the situation. Seven students were charged in the incident, including charges of inciting a riot.

LRPD: Homicide last night, sixth in LR in past seven days

The Little Rock Police Department is seeking a man they say killed a 20-year-old at an apartment complex on North Bryant Street last night. The killing was the fifth homicide in Little Rock in the past seven days. Officers responded to the Park Heights Apartments at 1701 N. Bryant Street last night around 7:30 p.m. in response to a call about a person shot in the complex. On arrival, officers found Bernard Sherrod, 20, lying in the grass near an apartment building, with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder. Sherrod was transported by ambulance to UAMS, where he was pronounced dead.
