Springdale middle school math teacher awarded $25K 'Milken Educator Award'

Cheers of encouragement from students peppered Michael Tapee's moving acceptance speech at Hellstern Middle School in Springdale, where Tapee teaches math and computer science to sixth- and seventh-graders. Tapee was accepting a Milken Educator Award, which will honor up to 75 recipients during the 2023-24 school year. The award is accompanied by a $25,000 prize.

State says Arkansas students advancing on standardized tests

The Arkansas Education Department said today that Arkansas students had made "significant" improvements on the ACT Aspire tests that measure students in grades 3-10 in reading, math, science and writing skills.
