New Music from Pepperboy, Bigwig, The Gebharts, itsjusbobby and more

This is from Little Rock rapper itsjusbobby's latest record, "Anybody But Bobby," which I missed last month. Maybe not the obvious stand-out, but it's moody and confessional and desperate-sounding and good.

New music from Voodoo Phaser, Bad Boyfriends, Yung Kiri, Dyl and more

"Tropical Scenario" is the great new LP from art-rock recording project Voodoo Phaser, which is the moniker of Fayetteville's Riede Faires. It is full of light-headed psychedelic sunshine pop and odd, jangly space-rock — this song sounds like "Doldrums"-era Ariel Pink and the whole thing is genuinely, consistently good.

New music from Rodney CoLe, Midwest Caravan, PZA, Big Piph and more

Pine Bluff's Goines was one half of Suga City, the only Arkansas rap duo ever to be featured in both the Oxford American magazine and the soundtrack to "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2." This is from his new LP "Success Vol. 1," which he describes as the "highly anticipated follow up to Goines' already extensive catalog of greatness."

New music from Pagiins, ESide Shawty, Ghost Bones, Fresco Grey and more

Here's something new from Fayetteville indie rock band Pagiins, who are offering a preview of their forthcoming album "Opium Den Pool Party" (great title) at Bandcamp. It's an especially good offering from the sometimes over-familiar and under-ambitious Fayetteville college rock circuit — somehow easy-going and propulsive, bright and angry. Also the album cover is cool.

New music from Teenagers, DMP, Liquid Skulls, Yuni Wa and more

Here's something new from Fayetteville band Teenagers' new EP "Wheezin' The Juice." I'd love to say something sharp and coherent about it, but nothing comes to mind. To free associate instead: San Diego, Rickenbacker, The Strokes, Capri Sun, longboards, mezcal.

New music from The Uh Huhs, Country Florist, The Wandering Lake, Osyrus Bolly and more

I'm late to this, but Osyrus Bolly and producer Manic the 17th teamed up on this track from Manic's compilation "T.I.M.E." "My words are like nature sounds," Bolly says, also calling himself the "young Malcolm X" and taking shots at Tyler Perry.

New music from Tral Wayz, The See, Big Piph, headcold and more

More great stuff from Fayetteville label Let's Talk Figures. This is from an excellent new EP by production duo TAPE.SET, a.k.a. Hutch Landfair and Andrew McClain. It's the ideal soundtrack for a bike ride on the International Space Station, or for dying on the beach.

New music from Yuni Wa, Marvin Berry, CUZ, Careful Creature and more

Yuni Wa is 17-year-old Little Rock native Princeton Coleman, a talented, omnivorous producer who makes beats, frenetic dance music and Paradise Garage-ready disco edits. Watch this space, etc.

New music from Love Ghost, Liquid Skulls, Kidd B, Livesosa and more

Love Ghost has been around for several years but is rarely seen, could even be considered elusive. Helmed by Jason Weinheimer, of Fellowship Hall Sound and a thousand beloved local records, the band also includes — or has, in the past — Jesse Aycock and Jeff Matika and Eric Ardnt and Dylan Turner and Dave Easley. Here's a great preview of their forthcoming album, "Skies Are Grey," which you can expect sometime this spring.

New music from All The Way Korean!, Fizzy Mahabba, Ma'Leak, SpidaCrazy8 and more

Hot Springs is undergoing some sort of harrowing post-punk revival at the moment, between Times Showcase winners Ghost Bones and All The Way Korean!, who are recommended for fans of bass and pessimism.

New music from CUZ, Mark Edgar Stuart, Sean Fresh, Spineless and more

Little Rock expat S.L. Jones left for Atlanta several years ago, collaborating with Killer Mike, impressing XXL et al. and generally making a career out of being the most visible representative of Arkansas rap in the national media / internet conversation. He was a good delegate, too, bringing attention to people like 607, Errol Westbrook and Kari Faux when few people outside the state knew who they were. For whatever reason, whether personal epiphany or high-level PR wisdom, he's renamed himself CUZ and reemerged with a new single this afternoon, "Return Call." It was premiered by Pigeons & Planes, who didn't mention his earlier identity and career, nor did they credit DJ Burn One (except to say he might be an influence), though as far as I know, he's been working with Jones on this project.

New music from Nouns, Saeuce Millz, Voodoo Phaser, DMP and more

Not long ago Conway punk band Nouns released a whole album. called "Still," and I didn't notice, but really it wasn't that long ago, all things considered, and you should check it out. It's smart and sometimes moving — brief, angular post-hardcore songs and damaged pop and ambient-industrial interludes.
