The whole Larry Craig “scandal” is boring to me in that its the same old story — a self-righteous Republican discovered to be gay and a hypocrite.     That’s hardly news anymore.  There is of course nothing wrong with being gay – and nothing inherently wrong with being a Republican – but it just seems an odd combination unless you are a Log Cabin Republican type – and of course they are discriminated against in their  own party.  It’s interested to note that the Log Cabin Republicans are calling for Sen. Craig to resign.

If you want to see the original police report — its on……….

Just two weeks ago, Glen Murphy, the head of the Young Republicans National Federation, was accused of “criminal deviate conduct,” for allegedly performing sex acts ( fellatio )  on another man while he was sleeping. but has yet to be charged.  His lawyer says the sexual act was “consensual.”    This was the second time the Republican had been accused of such a crime.

A little more details about Republican’s sex lives than I needed to know here:

This is far more crude that what I would normally write or quote but — the facts are what they are.   From the Wonkette:

Oh, by the way, Glenn was charged with Sexual Battery for doing this exact same thing in 1998 (this victim’s girlfriend was in the same room!). So he was, of course, the natural choice to head the Young Republicans.

“I will essentially be the mouthpiece and effective leader for the tens of thousands of Young Republicans, 18 to 40, across the country,” Murphy told the Jeffersonville News and Tribune last month. He would be the mouthpiece and they would be the throbbing young irresistible cockpiece.

Ok, a little more crass than necessary, but you get the point.     Still, its a boring story — its just sad because – both Sen. Craig and Young Republican Chairman Murphy —- should not have to be stigmatized for being gay — but because of the political party they chose to join — they have to remain “in the closet”

This is also a boring story because ———   they are just two more examples of Republican sex scandals to add to the list. And I’m sure there are plenty of pervy Democrats too – and when they are caught they should of course be punished – but its the self-loathing and self-hatred that makes it more interesting when people like Craig and Murphy do it.
