Sarah Polley, the talented actress from Go, My Life Without Me and Don’t Come Knocking screened her  writing-directing debut  Away From Her in Toronto.  The film is an adaption of the Alice Munro short story “The Bear Came Over the Mountain.”

Hollywood Reporter had this to say,

Polley is attentive to her cast without cueing us to marvel at their skill. Similarly, she crafts tender scenes — the couple dancing to Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon,” for instance — that are bittersweet without even leaning toward the maudlin.

The bottom line from Hollywood Reporter: Sarah Polley’s directing debut is an assured, moving look at coping with Alzheimer’s.
