I’m back from a quick and pleasant trip to Fayetteville for the game. Leaves are changing along I-540 and the Razorbacks looked strong against a weak Ole Miss team.
Listened to “A Prairie Home Companion” on the way back and just finished listening to Amy Berg on Elvis Mitchell’s very excellent radio show “The Treatment”. I was out of range when it was broadcast on KUAR (it doesn’t run in the same time slot in NW Ark.)
It looks like Flags took a dive at the box office, to the dismay of many critics. It’s going to be tough for that film to gain national traction (although it’s the cover of EW this week). The Departed, on the other hand, is going VERY STRONG. I thought the critics would have to carry this one, but that’s not the case. $77 million and climbing. Appears like a legit best pic contender now.
I’m going to take in a viewing of Reds today rather than venture back out to a theatre. Maybe later. . .
Cardinals did an excellent thing by winning game 1 of the World Series. Game 2 is tonight.
Eagerly anticipating Catch a Fire with Derek Luke and Tim Robbins next week. Also, Frank Bascombe is back in Richard Ford’s latest novel “The Lay of the Land”. Out on Tuesday.
Did you see anything?
