SATURDAY 12/7. Rev Room. $16-$20.
Count Black Joe Lewis (pictured) of Austin, Texas, as a torchbearer for a grand tradition — the one that takes hard truths, wraps them up in killer horn riffs and hurls them into the world like they were righteous weapons. He’s a potent guitar player and a fiery lyricist with a tight backing band, and the fact that he’s sharing this bill with fellow soul shouter Liz Brasher should seal the deal for anyone who’s caught the North Carolinian at the White Water Tavern over the last couple of years. “I’m half Dominican, half Italian and also Southern,” Brasher says on her website. “It’s a different type of Southerner, and that’s why the music I make sounds like a different type of the South.” Get tickets at arkansaslivemusic.com.
