Dazz and Brie, an Arkansas-based duo whose sounds have been shared far past the state (and even on the big screen), are no strangers to blending genres. Take their 2016 project, “Can’t Afford California,” for example, in which their distinctive mesh of heavy guitar riffs and chords collide with soulful melodies and occasional rap moments to make for a style all their own. Their 2017 release, “Can’t Chase Girls and Your Money Too,” keeps that momentum going while dabbling into more funk, pop, R&B and even a bit of countrified rock. Since their beginning as a duo, the two and their band, The Emotionalz, have taken their self-produced works to numerous stages and platforms, including the South by Southwest festival in Austin and Afropunk’s Battle of the Bands in Brooklyn. These 2017 Arkansas Times Musician Showcase winners have even had a couple of their songs featured in Tyler Perry’s “Nobody’s Fool.” If you’re at a show where Dazz and Brie are on the bill, you’re likely surrounded by a diverse crowd of music-lovers who are fond of all styles. Dazz and Brie themselves say that their shows are all about spreading good energy. Plus, you’re in for a head-bobbing, hip-swaying time. Don’t take our word for it, though — experience it for yourself this month at Kings Live Music in Conway. Get tickets at kingslivemusic.com.
