Don RossFingerstyle Collective Guitar Festival
$50 – $795

Maybe because my guitar teacher and I were more prone to shoot the breeze than get down to strict, dedicated practice, I’m not a particularly good guitar player. I do, though, know just enough to hear a good guitarist play — and know how hard he or she worked to get to that level. When I first saw the lineup for the Fingerstyle Collective Guitar Festival, I knew enough names to know that each of these headliners could make a single guitar sound like 4-piece orchestra. Fabulous guitarists like Kaki King (you might know his music from the soundtrack to the 2007 movie “August Rush”) and Don Ross (pictured above) will perform during this weeklong event.

This summit (literally; it takes place atop Petit Jean Mountain) of expert musicians will feature concerts, competitions, open-mics, seminars and for those of you more confident in your abilities than I am, one-on-one classes with headliners. Casual listeners can pay $50 for a three-day pass to gain entry to all concerts.
