Ceramics by 13 artists, most of whom who are now or have been on the faculty of universities across Arkansas, make up the exhibition “Fired Up in the Natural State: Contemporary Ceramics” in the Baum Gallery in UCA’s McCastlain Hall. The ceramicists include Kensuke Yamada of UA Little Rock, profiled in the January issue of the Arkansas Times; Linda Lopez of UA Fayetteville, profiled by Katy Henriksen for the Times; Aaron Calvert of Henderson State University, profiled as one of the 60th “Delta Exhibition” artists; Dawn Holder of the University of the Ozarks; Benjamin Cirgin, formerly of the U of A; Jeannie Hulen and Mathew McConnell of the U of A; Liz Smith of the University of Central Arkansas; Stephen Driver, co-owner of Little Mulberry Pottery; Joe Bruhin of Fox Mountain Pottery; UCA senior Anna Wagner; and Fletcher Larkin of Fox Pass Pottery.
Baum Gallery Director Brian Young and Associate Professor Liz Smith co-curated the show to reveal “a variety of forms and expressions from the functional to the whimsical,” Young says.
