7:30 p.m. Tue.-Sat., 12:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Sun. through Aug. 24, with additional performances July 10 and 17 and Aug. 7, 14 and 21. Murry's Dinner Playhouse. $25-$37.
We might not have grown up with a nanny who could fly — or who happily broke out in song-and-dance numbers, or who seemed anything like 1964 Julie Andrews, for that matter — but we can dream. This run of “Mary Poppins” at Murry’s Dinner Playhouse should help, too. When the Banks family meets the magical Poppins, they learn how sternness, kindness and a little fun can mix to provide some pretty valuable life lessons. Newcomers to and fans of this long-loved story can enjoy the production while wrapping up a dinner of pasta or smothered pork chops or any other offering on the menu: For more than 50 years, Murry’s has set itself apart from other area theaters by putting the whole “dinner and a show” itinerary under a single roof. Grab the whole family for this: While often characterized as a children’s story, “Mary Poppins” is a tale all ages can get behind. Showtimes during this six-week run are 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 12:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Sundays, and 12:45 p.m. on July 10 and 17 and Aug. 7, 14 and 21. Get tickets at murrysdp.com.
