Opening reception 5-8 p.m. Jan. 10, show through April 5, Historic Arkansas Museum, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mon.-Sat., 1-5 p.m. Sun.
Arkansas State University associate professor of art Melissa Wilkinson’s subjects in this show, drawing on images of people in the 1970s and early 1980s, are presented in pieces, never as a single unit. It’s the artist’s way of addressing human dichotomies such as good and evil, male and female and to invite questions about the perception of gender. Wilkinson, who lives in the Memphis area, received a bachelor’s degree in fine art from Western Illinois University in 2002 and a master’s in fine art from Southern Illinois University.
