Naomi Safran-Hon: “Refuge” (Museum guests only)

By Leslie Newell Peacock

Through September 2020.

Naomi Safran-Hon, "WS: ROOM (two doors and window)," 2016.

Naomi Safran-Hon’s exhibition “Refuge: Needing, Seeking, Creating Shelter” includes drear fantastical scenes of rubble-strewn home interiors, multimedia works employing inkjet prints, acrylic paint, cement and objects, such as lace. 21c Museum Hotel, which features changing exhibits of contemporary art in its several gallery spaces, describes the work as exploring “the contemporary human conditions” of geopolitical conflict and the desire to find one’s place in the world. Safran-Hon, a native of Haifa in Israel, is a visiting professor at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania.

NOTE: 21c Museum Hotel is operating, but its galleries are open only to guests to stem the spread of COVID-19.
