“Pairing Collections: Contemporary Art in 1980s Arkansas”

Art collected by the Mitchell, Williams, Selig, Gates and Woodyard law firm from artists working in the 1980s is paired with works from the UA Little Rock Permanent Collection in the Brad Cushman Gallery of the Windgate Center for Art + Design at UA Little Rock.

Firm founder Maurice Mitchell and member Chris Barrier, both major supporters of the arts, instigated the law firm’s collecting in 1967. The show at UA Little Rock features works by 18 of the artists represented in the firm’s collection, including such well-known artists as Warren Criswell, Tarrance Corbin, Dominique Simmons, Kathleen Holder, David Bailin, Al Allen and others. The complete Mitchell Williams Corporate Art Collection features 92 works by 49 Arkansas artists, primarily works on paper.

There will be a reception from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 22.
