2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. CALS Main Library. Free.
The Arkansas Society of Freethinkers will host its next Salon of the Mind, this time on medical marijuana, at the CALS Main Library. The series is modeled after the “salons” of the enlightenment period, gathering spaces where writers, artists, philosophers and thinkers got together to wax poetic about literature, science, art and culture. The Freethinkers’ modern iteration will focus on medical cannabis, with a presentation by microbiologist Zach Burnett. Burnett, a Ph.D. student in Biology at UA Little Rock, will speak about the microbiological effects of medical cannabis on the body. This will include information on how THC and CBD, a non-intoxicating cannabinoid, affect the body on a molecular level, and Burnett will also discuss the differences in ingesting methods for medical cannabis and CBD products: smoking, edibles and oils. The event is free and open to the public, and more information can be found on the Arkansas Society of Freethinkers’ Facebook page.
