For almost two decades, The Salty Dogs have been Little Rock’s honky-tonk heroes, playing all over Central Arkansas and regularly cranking out essential albums. They often get described as “new traditionalists,” which, as I wrote years back, is just another way of saying country music that lasts. Lead singer Brad Williams has one of the finest singing voices around, particularly if you appreciate a little bit of soul in your big country baritone. He’s got a crackerjack band performing alongside him — Brent LaBeau (bass), Bart Angel (drums) and Nick Devlin (guitar) — and for this show, they return to a favorite venue to record a live album for future release. Blues rocker Trey Johnson opens the concert.
